Hitch to Hope

A journey for life

Goodbye Luz del Mundo

Wellwell, a long radio silence. Sorry about that… I didn´t have much inspiration so then the words don´t come out. I have that sometimes…

I´ll try to summarize the time that I have been offline to make it not so much of a long text.

By now I´ve said goodbye to Luz del Mundo. Offcourse this was a little emotional because the kids there really bonded with me and I with them so then it is always hard to let go. We had a nice last meal and i had a big hug from all the children.

A big compliment to Gabriela, the director of LDM. what an amazing person she is. I know a lot of people that whine a lot about their 2 or 3 rascals that are running around the house. Imagine that times 10 or even 20 at some given moments and you know what she has to deal with. It is Gabriela´s own house where she provides a sanctuary for these kids and she also manages to provide a meal for them every given day. And totaly privately run; she doesn´t accept help from the government to provide for a open environment in which a lot of volunteers can participate. But with that also denying the financial help that comes with it. If I would be a religious person i would say an angel touched down…

My activities at luz del mundo stayed overall the same when I worked there. Mainly playing with and keeping an eye on the children while they stayed at Luz del Mundo. Kids sometimes can be a little hazzard to themselves and others. with my knowledge of having been a kid aswell (still ^^) I managed to keep things rolling togther with the other volunteers. I enjoyed my stay with two other girls, one from Belgium, Jolien, and the other from Germany, Marie. They will be there for some more time (both signed for a year), you go girls! Later also a man from Belgium joined, Paul. he stayed the last two weeks when I was there. A nice guy and a fantastic chess player…

Now I´m travelling again, I met up with a friend of mine from holland, Joni. She is travelling in South america for 5 months so its nice to travel together for a bit. The last couple of weeks I saw sucre, uyuni (saltflats; check i-net for pictures, amazing), Cochabamba, la Paz (where my wallet was stolen, grrr), Copacabana (where Joni and I met) and now we are in Cusco to do a trekking and visit machu picchu.

So this is all in a nutshell. I´ll try to be more specific the next time. Writing just is much of a hassle for me from time to time so now I know that travelling doesn´t cure procrestination, what a bummer.

Anyway, life is still good. I´m eating food of the streets constantly with so far now big problems, this means i´m healthy all the time… even though my imune system gets a punch from time to time with the occasional party here and there. Somehow alcohol isn´t solely a european invention (duhh).

I´m speaking to family and friends from time to time and apparently the world keeps revolving even though i´m not there. Couldn´t have expected differently…

Further plans are continuing our journey to Santiago de Chili where Joni meets up with another friend to ride their bikes across country (crazy fun time) and i will meet Jaime, a friend from the netherlands who has family in santiago and works there now. There I wil try to catch a boat to get me across the Pacific into new Zealand where i want to try to work a bit to fatten my bankaccount, probably neccesary by then…

As you can see the adventure is still going strong. Again i´m sorry for the long radio silence. I´ll try to update it more frequently form now on. small side note; my mini laptop somehow has the same lazy feelings as i do sometimes (doesn´t start, keyboard failing), from time to time this leads to little clashes. We need to work on our relationship apparently…

Untill next time brothers and sisters,

much love and kisses.

And hey, the donation system is still working. lets get some numbers on that account!

Peace!
